Unable to open your default e-mail folders ...

I installed Windows XP SP1 on a new computer.

Then installed Office 2000 with SP1 and SP3,
and tried to open Outlook and got the message,

"Unable to open your default e-mail folders.
Outlook could not start because a location to
send and receive email could not be found. To
add a location, such as a personal folder file,
double click on the Mail icon in the Windows
Control Panel."

Never had this problem running Outlook on my
previous computer with Windows 98 SE.

Nothing I do in the Mail icon seems to help. I
see several other postings with this question,
but no answers.

Once I can access Outlook, how do I move all my
Outlook information from my previous computer
to the new computer?

The following site will give you complete instruction
on how to get your information off the old machine
and onto the new.

Outlook & Exchange/Windows Messaging Backup
and Dual-Boot:
http://www.slipstick.com/config/backup.htm

Basically there is a PST type file on your old machine
that is holding your old mail. You need to copy that
from the old maching onto your new machine.

The problem with your new machine is that there is
no "valid" entry for where to deliver your incoming
email.

Once you copy the pst from your old machine onto your
new machine, you will then open your MAIL applet in the
control panel, bring up the properties on your email profile,
Select the DELIVERY tab, and point the delivery to the
PST file that you just copied over from the old machine.
