Unable to open rich text file online

Hi, I'm trying to open a .rtf file that I was sent as an attachment in an
e-mail. Each time I do so, I get the error message 'this file does not have a
program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association
in the folder options control panel.' I think that's about all the
information I can offer, thanks for any help or suggestions. -Sarah

Look at your desktop and notice the Start button in the lower right as
part of the Windows taskbar. Click on it. Then select Help and
Support. Search on "file association".

Usually, an .rtf file will open with Wordpad or, if it's
installed on your computer, Microsoft Word. You might want to
try the following.

First off, save the file to a location on your hard drive. Any
place handy will do, Desktop, My Documents, etc.
Go to the location you saved the file and try to open it.

If it still won't open, right click on the file and look for an
"Open with" entry on the menu.
Select "Choose Program..."
Select Microsoft Office Word, if installed, or Wordpad.
Put a check mark in the box next to "Always use the selected
program to open this kind of file".
Click OK.

Here's another option.

Word Viewer 2003

Good luck

The "lower right," huh?

You must have Windows XP SP3! ;-)

Well, the OP should do *some* investigating on their own. Tell someone
to turn to their left but point to their right. Make them do some
thinking on their own.
