Unable to open .pst file

I'm unable to open a .pst file. The .pst file was copied from one computer to
another. Both computers have Outlook 2003 Professional installed. When
attempting to open the data file, I get an error message, "Errors have been
detected...use scanpst.exe..."
When I did this, the recovered file had scant data, and I renamed the
Outlook.bak file to Outlook.pst. But I was still unable to open the renamed
..pst file.

I then used the Office installation disk to do a "repair". But nothing
changed.

I have no other backup of this file, which contains essential work data.
Ugh!

Thanks for your help in advance.

If the read only is off, the pst is on the hd, you *didnt overwrite* any
existing pst, you have run scanpst several times and you are still unable to
open the pst then likely the copy process was corrupt.

The process you used to copy the PST has corrupted it, probably beyond
repair. Was Outlook closed when you copied it?
