When I click start / Documents / My Documents
I got this following message:

This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this
action. Create an association the Folder Option Control Panel.

I know how to use Folder Option file type setting. But what is the file type
of "My Documents"

Thank you. Abby

Does it happen only for My Documents folder? Are you able to access the My Documents folder using Desktop icon?

Meanwhile, try this:

Type "rundll32 mydocs.dll,PerUserInit" in the RUN box.

Yes, only unable to open start/documents/My Document folder.
The Documents/My Pictures folder works fine.

I can also go to Documents and Settings/abby/my documents
and open this folder and find all my files.

Try the rundll32 command, reboot, did not change anything.

Thank you for your advise, Abby

Abby,

The key {450D8FBA-AD25-11D0-98A8-0800361B1103}may be missing in HKCR\CLSID. Type "regsvr32 /i shell32" in RUN box. That should fix it. Also, did you use a registry cleaner recently?

Thank you very much. It works.

Can you tell me what is a registry cleaner? Where can I get it and how to
use it?

A friend recently came and helped me to remove a spyware from my computer. I
do not know if that affect the computer at all.

Thank you, Abby

Registry cleaners are programs which removes invalid/orphaned entries in the registry [caused by incomplete software installation.uninstallation etc]. But, sometimes the registry cleaners tend to remove the legit entries as well, this case may be an example. As far I can see, there is no reason for an user to delete this particular CLSID manually. It might be caused by a software.
