Hi, not sure I'm in the proper Outlook newsgroup, but here's my problem,

Using MS Outlook Office XP, when I try to open the program I'm getting this
error message, Microsoft Outlook unable to open your default e-mail folders.
Could not open the item. Try again.

I did a detect and repair, didn't help.

thanks for any/all input.

That suggests to me that it can't find the appropriate profile (this may not
be the only reason though). Are you connecting to an Exchange server or POP3?
Has Outlook ever worked for you? If it did, when did it stop?

Thanks for the reply. I'm currently using several POP3 accounts in outlook
express.

I've never used MS Outlook, recently installed office XP and wanted to give
it a try.

Hope that helps in diagnosing the situation.

ty again, I'm able to at least open the program going thru CP but there are
no folders, and everytime I click something in there I'm getting error
messages. the operation failed.

Don't open Outlook at all. Configure the accounts and properties of Outlook
using the mail icon in the control panel. If you continue to experience
errors and problems, please delete and recreate the mail profile to see if
that helps. Also please check your application event viewer and post any
errors, including event ID and source, here.
