I was prompted to update my authenticity ID yesterday morning upon booting up.
My computer (Sony Vaio) was pre loaded when I bought it so there was some
complication in the re certification proces. I finally was able to complete
the update.
Since then I have been unable to open my browser. I have good connectivity
to my ISP (Comcast broadband) and receive mail on Outlook Express. I also
have access to Messenger. I have worked with Comcast to verify connectivity
but still cannot open the browser or any other URL's using it. I have had
the computer for over three years and have not had any problems until now. I
am wondering if there is a problem of authentication betweent the new Windows
update and Internet Explorer? Does anyone have any ideas? thank you....mtk

Have you tried using Windows Explorer? It is so entangled with Internet
Explorer that you can just type a URL in the address bar and open it. This
sometimes works when you cannot start Internet Explorer proper. If you can,
then go to http://www.microsoft.com/ie and reinstall Internet Explorer. If
you can't, have somebody download the browser (or better: another browser,
such as Mozilla Firefox) for you and install that.

Regards,
Steven Don
