Unable to move Contacts to Groups...

Hi. I'm trying to organize and condense my Contacts by moving everyone into
Groups. However, unlike OE, WM doesn't seem to allow me to move my
individual contacts into groups; it only copies them, leaving me with more
clutter than before.

Is there any way I can do this in WM or, failing that, any third-party
utility to help?

Thanks.

He's doing Contacts. That tutorial explains exactly what he's trying to
eliminate. When you put a person in a Group, they are still individualized
in Contacts (creating duplication and excess in the Contacts list), and you
can't get around it. Sometimes you only want the person listed as a member
of your Group, not as an individual Contact (like club memberships where you
may not have any other "personal / individual" contact to warrant having
them listed separately under Contacts.

slk759, you are exactly right. I need to have some folks listed in their
respective Groups only and otherwise removed from individual Contacts.

Can it be done?

Thanks.

No can do . . . . . Did you look at the tutorial? It tells you everywhere
that it puts a copy of the Group member in the Contact list as well.

In the tutorial I referenced, see the "Create for Group Only" option
in Section One, step 6.A.

An "AH-HA" moment !! Thanks Gary, I passed right over that with so many
repeated mentions elsewhere of the duplicate.

Thanks Gary.

Unfortunately this means I'll have to delete each contact and reenter it. It
appears I'll also have to omit addresses and phone numbers but it is a
solution (albeit imperfect) so I can't complain.

Unfortunately Microsoft has crippled the Contacts features in Windows
Mail. Windows Live Mail isn't much better in that regard.
I guess they want to sell more copies of Outlook. :)
