Unable to logon as Administrator - not listed on logon screen

Hi!
I am having trouble running Norton's Live Update for Antivirus 2004 and their online help said to logon as user Administrator and try it again. I was using a different userid that is a member for the Administrator's group. I thought this would be good enough. Can someone tell me how to logon as Administrator userid when the dialog box for this does not show up pon the CP logon screen in list of user choices? Thank you very much!

If using XP Home, log on in Safe mode.

If using XP Pro, press ctrl,alt,del twice at the welcome screen to
call up the classic logon prompt. Type in Administrator and password.
