Unable to log in under any profiles including Adminstrator in Safe Mode

I have a PC at home that is not networked and running XP
Home Edition. I am not sure what happened, but now I am
unable to log in with any profile, including the
Administrator in Safe Mode. I keep getting the following
Logon Message:
The system cannot log you on due to the following
error: The specified domain either does not exist or
could not be contacted. Please try again or consult your
system administrator.
The Administrator password is blank. I can verify it by
entering the recovery console from the XP CD.
Unfortunately, nothing else seems to work. What do I
need to do to keep it from trying to contact a domain?

Have you reinstalled XP or upgraded recently? Sounds like
your user profiles are no longer recognized by your OS.
One solution, albeit drastic, would be rebuilding the OS
by deleting the partition, reformatting and then
installing your OS from scratch. If losing all your your
data on your hard drive is not an option, transfer it to
another hard drive first for safe keeping. Of course
someone else may have a much better idea!

Hello,
1. XP home cannot be a member of a domain.
2. It is highly possible that someone compromised your system and changed
the administrative password and any user accounts on the workstation.

I'd suggest rebuilding this system and then creating a strong, secure
password for your accounts. Also enable the Internet connection firewall
to keep out would be hackers.
