Unable to load web sites.

I'm running IE6 (all updates installed) on my Win XP Pro
computer that has a 2.4Ghz processor and 1Gb of RAM and is
connected via a cable modem to the Internet.

Despide these features I am having trouble to load several
websites, especially thos requiring passwords. Using
Netscape 7.1 on the other hand causes no problems.

Sites I can't get into include:

godaddy.com = no response
hotmail.com = no login
cnbc.com = no response
and many more ....

Even access to this group could not be completed using IE6,
instead I had to use Netscape.

I've read in other newsgroups that the privacy and security
settings may be to blame, so I reduced them all to "low"
and handle them through Norton's Personal Firewall. This
did not help.

Uninstall or re-install are not possible, since IE6 does
not appear in my 'Add / Remove Programs List.'

As a buding web designer I need IE6 to check the
functionality of my sites, otherwise I would have junked
IE6 along time ago.

What can I do to correct this problem?

Are you on a network, because we had this problem at my
school and to fix it we had o change the settings on how
the network connected to the internet. Sorry i cant help
you more, but that might be the problem.

ALOT of people are having this problem! And it is NOT
anything to do with the Cipher Strength, nor with proxie
settings, nor security levels ( I too set my security
level at lowest level and had no luck!).

I downloaded Netscape's browser and am able to get to my
hotmail account fine. What a load of crappola. You need
a netscape browser to get to a Microsoft site!!!

As I posted before, I sure wish Microsoft would deal with
this issue in a more responsible fashion!

Try this, your security settings may have been
inadvertently changed as mine were.

Go to Tools. Click on Internet Options. Click on the
Advanced tab. Scroll down to Security. Make sure that
ALL of the following boxes are checked off: _Use SSL 2.0,
_Use SSL 3.0, _Use TLS 1.0

For some stupid reason, this was done WITHOUT my
knowledge. Good luck!
