Unable to Link BCM Update SP1 to SBA 2006 SP1

Alex

I have a SBS 2003 Premium set up with SBA 2006 Installed on the server and
the BCM database located on the server as well.

The client PC has BCM and is connecting fine to the BCM database on the
server. SBA 2006 is also on the client, and it is connecting fine to the
SBA database on the server. I try to connect BCM to SBA by performing the
following steps:

1) Click on Business Tools >> Accounting Tools
2) Click on Set up Connection to Accounting
3) Select 'Yes' under "Do you want to connect...blah blah blah"

This is as far as I can get. The Browse button under "Database Locator
File" remains grayed (greyed?) out. I am an administrator on the local PC.

Any suggestions?

TIA
Alex

I've run into this before, but can't quite remember the exact factor
that disables this button.

Perhaps this is one of those instances where BCM wants you to be the
actual owner of the data for privacy policy reasons. Are you the owner
of the BCM database? i.e. did you create the database with your current
login, or are you a shared user of the BCM database?

I don't have that combination of SPs installed right now, but I
remember something about the directory structure under Program
Files\Microsoft Small Business having to be just right for BCM to find
the SBA DLLs. What folders do you have under Microsoft Small Business
after installing the SPs?

Hi Alex

The issue was resolved in some senarios by uninstalling and reinstallling
SBA from add and remove.Make sure you back up your data before trying the
same. Also you could try posting your queries to
microsoft.public.sba.general.Hope this helps

With Regards
