Unable to Install Updates

Error 800703E7 keeps 11 updates from succeeding. This has been going on for
a month. 9 of the updates get error code 800F0826 (caused by the previous
error).
 
Rename the SoftwareDistribution folder. (Because of possible folder
corruption or other errors.)
Click Start, Choose Run.
In the Run box, type services.msc.
Click OK.
Right-click the Automatic Updates service.
Click Stop.
Stopping the service will take a moment.

Rename the "SoftwareDistribution" folder:
a. Click Start, click Run, type %systemroot%, and then click OK.
b. Right-click the SoftwareDistribution folder, and then click Rename.
c. Type SoftwareDistribution.old, and then press ENTER to rename this
folder.
Create a new folder called "SoftwareDistribution"
Click Start. Choose Run.
In the Run box, type services.msc.
Click OK.
Right-click the Automatic Updates service.
Click Start.
Starting the service will take a moment.
Rerun Windows Update.

Andre, I tried your solution and it did not work for me. I should have mentioned that I am using Vista Ultimate (sorry). When the system looks for updates it eventually comes back and says: "Windows could not search for new updates". I think it is overwhelmed with the number of updates it needs. Thanks for your help....bipolar66
