When I download Adobe Reader and try to install it I get a 1305 error: Error
reading .msi file. When I check the files properties there is a note in
summary to contact local administrator. As far as I know, I'm the
administrator.
I purchased a Dell laptop from ebay last year. It came with xp pro,
corporate edition I think. I made sure to make myself part of the
administrator group so I wouldn't have these problems. Ever since mid-July I
started having strange occurances like,Windows and AVG free suddenly stoped
getting updates, Adobe 6 wasn't recognized by my computer or my online
school, internet explorer wouldn't start half the time,etc... I finally got
some spyware and avast to work on my system and that fixed alot of the
problems. Now I just need to get adobe working again so I can finish my
schooling. Any help would be great. Thanks...ed

sorry, But I really doubt you have a LEGAL version of XP Corporate Edition.
Their is no such animal except in corporations. One of the first Pirate XP
cds going around was the corporate edition. Therefore, you do not have any
service packs, therefore no updates. You got screwed at ebay, what a
surprise. The only option I see for you, if you like the laptop, is to buy
a legal version of XP. Microsoft now checks the validity of the OS, so you
cannot get the updates and you NEED them. Go to the MS site and let it scan
your system. It will tell you if it's valid or not.

Actually I have had windows validation and it says that I'm legal. The reason
I thought it was corporate is the laptop had a company sticker on it with a
employees first initial, last name and what area in the company it should be
delivered to. So I'm not worried about it being stolen or pirated. Infact
when I first got it I restored it to a check point earlier than when I got it
and I ended up having to call Dell to give me a product key because I was
stuck at the point of having to start it as a new computer. Thanks for the
reply...ed
