Unable to insert a chart in Powerpoint presentation

I'm experiencing problems adding a chart in Powerpoint 2003 - I get a blank
placeholder, when I try to change the dummy data in the datasheet, I get
thrown out of PowerPoint. Please help, I'm trying to demonstrate this
feature in training session and unable to proceed.

I have re-booted, uninstalled and re-installed Office suite, but still no
luck. The anti-virus is Norton.

What antivirus program are you using?

Have you rebooted recently? I'd start with that. (I know, it sounds
simplistic, but I'm totally serious!)

Great, thanks. You need to disable the Office plug-in in Norton. Here's
information and instructions:

Sorry, the anti-virus is Symantec.. However, I've just discovered that the
problem only seems to occur when my laptop is attached to an overhead
projector so there must be some conflict of drivers? Any workaround on this?
Thanks

Oh, how interesting.

I think you can still disable the Office plug-in for the Symantec corporate
version of the antivirus.

I don't know any workarounds with the projector thing, but maybe try turning
down hardware acceleration. Here are instrux:

How to set graphics hardware acceleration back
http://www.pptfaq.com/FAQ00129.htm

Also make sure your desktop display settings are the same as those on the
projector, usually 1024x768 or 800x600.

The web address you gave me for setting graphics hardware accelaration back
also gave instructions on updating the driver - the update has now solved the
problem. Thank you
