unable to get past the user id and password screen

I bought a second hand laptop with wondows 2000. I tried
to change and erase the log in id and password but after
that when I log back in it asks for the same but does not
accept the same anymore.
COuld youa dvice a) how to overcome this or
2) where can I get windows 98 software to reboot the
system. The laptop I have is Pentium 111 from Dell.

1) Do a search for "password cracker windows 2000" in google.

2) Check ebay or ask friends.
