Removed and reloaded Office XP but same problems persist, after shutdown.
Additionally, reload finds old pst file (not a problem but a symptom?
Error message=user ID password not recog

Appreciate help.

Dave, are you trying to connect to and Exchange server or POP account. If a
POP account double check your account setup to make sure the information is
accurate. Also if POP account there may be an additional charge to pull the
information into Outlook.

If this is an exchange server then you would need to talk to your Exchange
admin or IT department to verify your account information.

Thanks for quick reply Francine,

Using POP account, and have reentered the settings to confirm, additionally
can successfully get the mail in Express with same settings.
Additional charge?? Don't understand.
This problem has just occurred after long use of Outlook; years not days.
Again thanks for the fast reply.

Start with a fresh mail profile and redefine your mail account in that new
profile, making sure you specify the correct username and password for
connecting to your ISP's mail servers. You can reuse your existing PST in
the new mail profile.

Thanks Brian,

Not to be too dim on this, but...

Log off and then log on with new user id/pw??
then go find the old PST??
