unable to find my Local Area Connection icon

dear sir/Madam

Hope you are well. My query is I have install windows
2000 professional in pc at my office but when i went in
My Network Places properties I am unable to find my Local
Area Connection icon so how can I configure my TCP/IP
address with out this Icon please let guide me in this
regard waiting for Your reply

Have you installed a network card in this PC? A LAN connection will be
automatically made once windows finds a network device.
 
Start>Settings>Network Connections
In this you can find Local Area Connection
In properties Local Area Connection click check box "Show icon in
notifications area when connected"

Thanks for your mail but my problem is when i am going
in My Network Places properties I am unable to find my
Local Area Connection icon from there we can configure
our TCP/IP Add. I have install my NIC card but no changes
are here
