Unable to drag movie clips into video track...

I am using Microsoft Windows Movie Maker 2(version 5.1) and the computer that i am using is a TOSHIBA Laptop Pentium 4, 496MB of RAM and a 80GB of hard disk space

I have a few videos of home clip movies and after importing the video clips into collections. I tried dragging the movie clips into the timeline, after each clip is dragged into the video track, no image of the video clip can be seen on the video track, only the audio for video track is visible

The format of the movie clips is in Mpeg format

I tried copying and pasting the video clips into the video track and the videos does appear onto the video track but each time it appears in a different sequence. (for example, track 1 appears after track 3 and vice versa)

Is my laptop capable of handling movie making or the pc is of a perferred choice

I hope someone can really help me out in getting in this problem here.

My movie editing computer is also a Toshiba laptop with similar specs....
the computer is fine.

You're into an MPEG2 file format issue, one which Movie Maker 2 doesn't
handle well, if at all. See the Importing Source Files > Video > MPEG2 page
of my site.
