Unable to download - HTML, RTF, VCF attachments from POP3 server

Hello,

I have read several posts but could not find a solution to the problem
I am having. I am running Microsoft Office - Outlook 2003 with all the
latest service packs and patches installed.

For the last few months, I have been unable to download any emails that
have attachments with HTML, RTF and VCF type extensions. I am able to
download all other emails with other type of attachments like Word,
Excel, PDF Etc.

When an email with the above extensions come in, Outlook stops
downloading all other emails from the POP3 server and the Send/Receive
hangs. I have to login to the web-interface and delete the offending
email and then re-open outlook to continue downloading.

I have tried un-installing and re-installing Office, removing all
Anti-Virun scanners but nothing has fixed the problem so far. Any help
is greatly appreciated,

Thanks
BK

Have you looked at your security settings in OL? There is a setting that
prevents the downloading of HTML. Tools, Options, Security, Change Auto
download settings button. Uncheck it but leave Notify me...etc. checked.

Mary,

I did try that setting and it does not make a difference. For some
reason, the Send/Receive just hangs up as I mentioned before. I have
tried changing the Security Zone Settings and made them "Low" and tried
about everything else.

Try lengthenin your server timeout value. Also check your firewall.
Sometimes a firewall will have a"mail guard" feature. Zone Alarm, for
example, has one.
