unable to download from microsoft site

When I go to Windows Live Messenger and click "get it free" the result is
"page cannot be displayed" instead of download window. This only occurs with
microsoft sites.

Try to clear your caches, Internet files and delete cookies on the IE
properties under General Tab.
Click on Advanced tab and scroll under Browsing Option and uncheck this box:
[&] Browsing
[ ] Enable Third-Party browser extensions (Req Res)
Click Ok and close the IE window.

Open a run command and type in:
netsh winsock reset click [OK] and reboot yuor machine.
