Unable to download from FTP sites

I have IE6 on a new Dell with XP Pro SP1. I also have SP1 for IE. I cannot
download from FTP sites using IE. I get a 404 error. In internet options I
have disabled "folder view" and have "use passive ftp" checked. I still get
a 404 error. I am wondering if MS Knowledge Base article 816037 may apply
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=816037 and if so how can I get this fix?
I have an OEM version of IE so I called Dell and asked if they have the fix
and was told to call Microsoft, but since this is an OEM version that
would cost $35. Any ideas as to what is the problem and how I can fix it?

Yes, it might apply to you, I don't know. Since the article says there is no
fix yet, I guess there is no fix...

Did you try an alternative FTP program? Or FTP at the DOS prompt?
