Unable to display folder Error

I am getting the error/message when I attempt to open "Outlook Today",
"Calendar", "Tasks", ... any thing but "Inbox" (mail works just fine). ie -
Calendar doesn't work or display.

Background:
Rebuilt the O/S from the ground up.
Windows 2000 (SP4) and,
Office 2000 Premium (SR/1 and SP3).

I brought over all the files (pst, fav, ...) from the old
User\LocalSettings\... and User\Application Data\.. 'Outlook folder' - did I
miss something?

I have tried Start->Run "Outlook /cleanviews".
I have attempted to re-install Office.

Couldn't find anything else in MS knowledgebase that is relevant.

Second question: What is the search string for searching this newsgroup?

Thanks,
-ralph

Discovered a 'fix': Apparently replacing the older 'imported' files with the
'default' "Microsoft Outlook Internet Settings" .FAV and .NICK files (the
ones created when you first install Office) returns the ability to open
calendar/tasks/notes/...

Is this a 'true' repair or am I setting myself up for an even more
interesting failure on down the road?

Thanks,

Overwriting Outlook's files with others of the same names always has strange
side-effects. Did you do that along the way?

Yes, I did.

I copied the old files over to the new folders on the new system.
According to sources on the web the .fav, .nick, and .rwz files were "just"
for favorites and Rules. So I thought no harm no foul. I have since learned
my lesson.

What made it so odd, was because I felt I was being so conscientious in
copying/importing files into the new Outlook. Copy/Test/Import/Test/.. and
everything worked just fine as I went along. Then !bang.

So of course I looked everywhere else for the trouble - after all the "file
copy" had worked just fine a couple of nights ago. <g>

Outlook is a weird bear.

thanks,
