Hi All,

I've got serious trouble with my security settings.
I installed "ntl netguard" software on my laptop, however an error
occured during the installlation. Therefore I tried to un-install the
software again, but again an error occured.
Now there are some .xml files left in the folder

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ntl

Does anybody have a clue how I can delete these .xml files or even
better the whole ntl folder?

Thanx for your help!

Hi,

And right-clicking the folder and choosing <delete> doesn't work?

You can try to use a small sofware unlocker 1.7.It works perfectly for
me.Make a search through Google
andre

No it doesn't...think the problem is that the particular file is a
"Read-only" one...

Do you know I can change this. (right click - properties doesn't work)

Thanks, Jens

Hi Schochen

Have you tried logging in as another Admin user (or the built-in
Administrator) and then deleting the files? It may be Windows is locking
them as "in use" when you are logged in to that profile. . .

If that doesn't work, I would try this:

[1] Open a Command window and shut down any other running programs.
Open Task Manager with Ctrl+Alt+Del

[2] In Task Manager look on the Processes tab and select Explorer.exe,
Click on the End Process button. (Your desktop and taskbar will
disappear and you'll be left with just Task Manager and the Command
window. Don't panic! :-) Leave Task Manager open and return to the
Command window.

[3] Now at the prompt type:
rd /s /q <path><foldername> <enter>
Type: exit <enter> to close the Command window.

[4] Go back to Task Manager and on the Applications tab click the button
for New Task. In the box that pops up type: Explorer <OK>. Your desktop
should return to normal. Close Task Manager and reboot.

Hope this helps.

"Read only" has absolutely nothing to do with it. It's a file attribute, it
does not prevent a file from being deleted. Is there an error message?

What if you use DEL from a command prompt?
