Unable to delete User account

Using Computer Management in the default Administrator account, I originally
renamed a User account from OldName to NewName, which deplayed fine
everywhere except it's proper path line - i.e. \Documents and
Settings\OldName\. I changed the name back, then created a new account with
the name NewName, only to find that both the OldName and NewName accounts
were associated with the aforementioned profile. Therefore I deleted both
accounts and created the same NewName account again, resulting with the same
problem. After deleting it again and looking at the profiles, I noticed that
the OldName profile remained, even though no account no longer existed for
it. Other than in the profiles, no sign is shown of this deleted account in
Windows Explorer, Computer Management, User Accounts or the Welcome screen.
These are system files, not to be messed with, so I need to know how to
appropriately remove what has somehow been left behind.

Are you trying to delete the folder\subfolders and files under "C:\Documents
and Settings\OldName"?

If so my experience is I've had to reset the ownership of the files and
folders then I can delete the file structure. If you don't want to loose the
files in the structure you could rename the folder OldName to OldOldName so
when you log the user back in and the system recreated the folder it will
not user the old one and you can access any files you might need from that
OldName file structure...

Hope this helps
