Unable to delete Temp folder

I cannot seem to access my Local Settings/Temp folder in any way. When
I try to run a full Norton AntiVirus scan my computer freezes once it
starts scanning that folder, when I try to browse in that folder using
Internet Explorer my system freezes and I can't view the files in that
folder if I try to access them through the DOS prompt.

I've tried downloading a program called Empty Temp Folders which I read
was quite reliable but when it tries to access that folder it crashes
in a similar fashion.

If anyone could provide any advice I'd greatly appreciate it. I have
manage to perform complete scans using Ad-Aware and SpyBot remover and
they tell me my system is clean of adware and trojans.

Thanks for any help.

You could try starting up in safe mode then try accessing it from there.

Also it's possible that there could be some corruption, To check for this
and try to fix it click start then run then type cmd then press return
type the following
chkdsk c: /f /r

It will say it can't do it just now, would you like to do it at next
reboot, type y then return then restart.
