Unable to delete rows or columns? Why?

I have tried for several hours to figure out why all of a sudden I am unable
to delete rows or columns. If I select several rows or columns I used to be
able to right click and choose "delete". Now that is greyed out. I have
done searches... I have even uninstalled my Officer 2003 and re-installed
it. The same is true if I click "Edit" then try to choose cut or delete.

Does anyone know why this is happening?
