unable to delete file

Hi I have accidentaly created a 20Gb temp file in documents and settings
which I cannot now delete- windows says its being used but I have removed
software that created it, I have compacted it to get back the remains of my
hard drive but if i select it processor goes to 100% for minutes , 98% of
which seems to be Internet explorer! I really wish to avoid a reinstall but
cannot transfer to backup HD without copying the offending file. any
suggestions?
Was thinking of installing second copy on other hard drive and deleting it
from there but would this work?

hi, sorry to butt in

i have a problem in not being able to delete files from my windows 2003 r2
server, all roads on these forums point to using "Unlocker" however when I
install this on my 64 bit windows 2003 storage server there is no option to
unlock when right clicking a file, this is the same after rebooting the
server.

do i assume this is only available on desktops and older servers ?

I have checked the Unlocker site and can find no reference to this issue.

any help much appreciated

regards
paul

Download and install "Unlocker" http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/

it will tell you what is locking it, and you can choose to unlock it, and
then maybe delete it?
