Good day all... looking for some help...

I was trying to copy a folder ... g:\junk7\ratpics to

f:\my web page\my web pictures...

I had thought the move was complete and deleted the folder ratpics
from the G:\junk7 folder after the move.

I made a folder called f:\My Website and wanted to move the folder
called ratpics to this foler... lo and behold i could not access the
folder f:\my web page or the sub folder called f:\my web pare\my web
site pictures.....

I get an access denied error....

I tried to change the properties of the folder from read only
(uncheck) this option in the properties for the foler but this is
unsucessful... I still can not delete the f:\my web page and the dub
folder f:\my web page\my web site pictures...

Hi WFMN. Try this free utility. One of the options on the context menu
is to delete file or folder.
It worked on two hidden files with no extensions for me when nothing
else would.........Regards. deango

Reboot.

Do NOT open the folder. Right click the folder and select Delete.

No Joy
If that doesn't work, reboot in Safe Mode.

Still cant get to safe mode so I cant get rid of the folders...

May have to live with this folder for ever...

Thanks for the suggestion though

Download Unlocker :
http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/
It is very useful to unlock any file. It shows you which programs are
locking the folder or file and then give you the option to Unlock it.It never
ends any program.

Please tell if this solved your problem.

I have tried the suggestions posted here in getting a folder deleted
but have had no luck... I must note here that the properties tag on
the folder shows that the little box labeled "read Only" has a green
square in it not the usual green check mark. I have tried clicking on
the "Read Only" box in the properties area to make the folder readable
(in otherwords unchecked the box). I then click on the apply button
and try to delete the folder but still no joy... any other suggestions
out there???

Oh, still will not boot in safe mode and I just am at a loss on how to
find out what driver may be corrupted so I can reinstall it and maybe
get the computer to boot in safe mode...

Any suggestions here????

Thanks much...

That mark has no meaning for the read status of the folder - it actually
indicates being in an indeterminate state. It applies to changing the
attributes of the files within it. See this link for more information
about the read only attribute for folders.

Try this line:

attrib -r "f:\My Webpage (etc.)"

You need the quotes, I believe, so the spaces won't be misconstrued.

It seems you have already tried "Unlocker" suggested by Ayush, and also
the free utility suggested by deango but neither of them solved your
problem.
You might try using the "Utility for Deleting Invalid Files",
DelinvFile.exe,
which can be downloaded (free) from
http://www.purgeie.com/delinv/index.htm DelinvFile.exe also has options
for deleting files or folders.
Good luck!

Thanks for the help.... seem like the quotes let the system recognize
the attrib command but I still am denied access to the folders and
files... get the following;

from the c prompt.

c:\attrib - r -s -h "f:\my website\my new web page"

response:

Access denied - f:\my website\my new web page

The problem started - I think after I started to copy a folder from
one folder to another folder and the I may have tried to del the
folder from the original location befor the copy was complete ( or
some such thing....)..

Im ssort of afraind to just delete the folder with a utility because
Im not sure what is keeping me from getting access to the crazy
thing... . What reprocussions will this have???? Just dont know...

what is the command that will let me look at what attributes are
currently attributed to the folder??? I cant recall its been so
long...

Thanks
