The Define Custom Color option in Page Properties > Background > More Colors
Custom is disabled (gray). Does anybody know how I can enable it?

Thanks

John

With the page open, Tools, Page options, Compatibility and set the dropdowns to custom. If FP 2003
also set the schema to IE 5.

Thanks for your response, but again nothing. I made all possible
combinations in the dropdowns and checkboxes at Compatibility.
I use FP 2002 sp3, and there are no disabled items.

Any other idea?

John

Try running Detect and Repair from the FrontPage Help dropdown.

Again nothing! Maybe I should call my version of FP, "FP without Custom
Color support" and relax.

Thanks anyway. (However, if something comes to mind, please let me know).

wild guess: are you using a predesigned template or have css controlling display?

No, and the problem is permanent. I mean, from the moment I launch FP. Even
if I create a new web or page from scratch. To put it in other words: I've
never seen the Define Custom Color button active.

Close FrontPage, and then find and delete a file named CmdUI.prf. It should be here:
C:\Documents and Settings\%UserName%\Application Data\Microsoft\FrontPage\State

Reopen FrontPage and it will create a new one. See if it changes anything.

Note: any "custom" settings you have added to the FrontPage toolbars will be gone and will have to
be reset.

Again no. I think my last resort is a fresh setup of FP. I'll do it in the
weekend and if something goes wrong I'll come back to the forum.

Thanks for everything.

John

This is getting silly, but how many colours is Windows set to display? If
it's only 256 (or less), the custom colour button may be disabled.

If you mean the Color Quality in Display Properties > Settings, it is set to
Highest (32 bit) and the screen resolution to 1280x1024.

John

That can't be it because he can get to it from Insert Photo. This is weirdly challenging :-)
