Unable to create Network Spooler sub system closure

Leo

When I use the network setup wizard in XP home once the
program gathers all of the infomation it needs I get a
message that the Spooler Sub System App had to close
there was an error in NTDLL.DLL. Bottom line I can't
create the network.

The computer's operating system is XP home edition.

This computer was connected to my home network and then I
lost the connection. No idea why or when.

The computer connects to the internet via a network hub
(router). The internet connection (cable modem) also
connects via the router as does the other computer. Each
computer has a unique name on the network and I'm using
the same network name. The router has a firewall and the
computer is running Zone Alarm. I've tried it with Zone
Alarm disconnected and I still get the same error.

Any suggestions?

Apparently it's a Microsoft problem that they are "working" on. What you describe is exactly the problem I experienced. Still can't set up the network, and Linksys has tried to help. Hope someone else can offer some insight!!

Greetings Leo,

Make sure the XP's firewall is disabled. It will block file and printer
sharing by default. If you installed a third party firewall such as
ZoneAlarm, Norton, or Sygate, make sure it is properly configured and not
blocking access between the machines. Enable NetBIOS Over TCP/IP on all
machines.

Enable NetBIOS Over TCP/IP (NetBT)

I found a helpful newsgroup response here by searching under Spooler. It
was 2/20/04 I think. Was that you?
In short I had a printer problem. I removed all printers and then
removed all the printer drivers under the file drop down in Printers and
Faxes in Control Panel. The network wizard now works. However, I've still
got a problem in that I can't access the new network on this computer. I'm
told it's there but not available I need permission from an administrator.
I am set up as administrator on the computer.
