unable to contact domain controller

B

Brad Payne

Hi -
I have 15 computers in this domain - each workstation has two OS partitions.
While setting up the computers I was able to join the domain on each
partition OS. After getting all of the software installed on the computers,
I try to logon to the domain again with the first OS, and I get the logon
error "Unable to find a domain controller for this domain."

When I log on locally, I can ping the DC, and I can leave / rejoin the
domain.

The computer names are the same on both partitions..when i do a gpupdate, I
am get an access denied error in the event log.

I have also tried giving different computer names on each partition, this
didn't work. Any ideas??

Thanks in advance.

You need different computer names for each OS installed on the machine.

The name is associated with a computer account in the domain.
When you reboot into the other OS the computername is the same, but the
domain will refuse you as it can tell it is not the same machine and has no
valid account in the domain.
