I have a laptop running Win XP SP2, and a DSL connection using a DLink
wireless router (connected by Ethernet to a computer running Win2K), and a
DLink Air-Plus PCMCIA card. My signal strength is excellent, and I have not
problem connecting to the Internet. When I try to connect to my workgroup
(MSHOME), however, I get the following error message:
"Mshome is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network
resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have
access permissions.
The list of servers from this workgroup is not currently available."
I began receiving this error message when I returned from a business trip.
The hotel in which I stayed offered wireless internet access, but I had to
reconfigure my TCP/IP settings to make it work. I wrote down the previous
settings, and reconfigured when I returned home, but have not been able to
connect to the workgroup since I returned. Is it possible that the hotel's
wireless network somehow rewrote my permissions? Nothing has changed on the
computer running Win2K. What should I look for to correct this problem?
Thanks in advance for your help.
