Unable to connect to the correct User Profile

I have about 100 standalone PCs that need to be joined to the Domain. I did
the Copy Profile method to transfer the user information from their local
profile to the new domain profile. But when I try to login with the user
account, it doesn't sync up with the new domain profile, but instead it give
me a totally new default profile. I try to fix the Profile path using the
article "How to restore a use profile in Windows 2003"
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314045, but that didn't work. It just create
another profile after I login again. What am I doing wrong?

Also when changing the Profile Path, does that mean the original Profile
can't be deleted?

e.g. User1 and User1.domain

Have the user login to the domain first to create the default profile. Log
off then you login and copy the saved profile to the new default one.

I already did that. That's the reason I said it doesn't sync up with the
correct profile.

Thank You

Delete all the created domain profiles. Log in then back off then back in.
Does that use the same profile or create another one?

Thank You. This time it work. I deleted all the newly created domain
profiles with the Local Administrator account, then I login with the user
account twice making sure that it was using the same profile. Next I copied
the user local profile to their domain profile. Then I login as the user
again and this time all the desktop icons, My Documents and Favorites came
up. Would you happen to know the reason why sometime multiple profiles get
created for the same user like it did for me earlier?

Thank You Again.

In a nutshell, sometimes there could be open registry handles, which means
some applications access the registry but don't let it go when you close it.
That isn't a problem until you log off, when you logoff the profile tries
to unload the user's registry but fails because it's still in use. Because
the system can't unload your profile, Windows can't copy it back to the
domain server. If the system doesn't unload your profile it can become
corrupt. Microsoft has a utility that helps with this by checking the
registry and cleans it up which will allow the profile to properly save. You
can download it here. You should use it
