Unable to connect to admin shares (C$) across subnet within same domain

I have a single domain environment. Our newest PC's are all windows XP
SP2. I have noticed that even when logged in as a domain admin we are
unable to access (C$) across subnets within our domain. Acessing (C$)
on the same subnet works fine.

All machines in question are built hte same way utilizing a Ghost
image.

Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated.

How are you accessing them? Try the FQDN as in \\computer.domain.local\c$ or
IP \\10.0.0.52\c$

I have tried teh FQDN as well as using the ip address. That does not
help at all. Still looking for other suggestions.

Do you have a WINS server? I'm not sure how the authentication is done but
if it's across subnets then NETBIOS may be involved.

Yes we do have a WINS server and each machine is configured with the
WINS server's IP address.
