Unable to connect after power is shut off

Help!!! I am having problems connecting to the internet
and AOL (version 8.0 or 9.0)after a power outage has shut
down and restarted my computer. A regular retstart or
shutdown of the computer does not cause the problem only
xp being shut down through a power outage causes this. My
modem has been checked and is good, I can dial and you
hear the modem, but I am unable to establish a network
connection. I have tried a number of things to correct
the problem, but the only thing that workd is to perform a
system restore to a date and time prior to when the power
went out. This is a problem for me, because we have a lot
of power outages in Florida at this time of year.

This happens to me also sometimes. I just have to run the
Windows networking program over and it fixes it...

If your having a lot of power outages then it would be best if you get
yourself an UPS unit. This will not only help you out with this issue in
the future, but it will protect your hardware from damage. It's cheaper to
get a $40-50 UPS than it is to buy a new system because the power outages
and surges fries it.
