unable to click on folders ,files or even C drive

After my fan packed up pc crashed ,replaced fan but now cannot access
C:drive folders or files from My documents or music etc etc !
I can see the folders names !
I have defraged after clean up !
I used Norton Doctor etc
All came back no errors !
I can access last Picture I used !
when I click on folder comes up with Search companion insted of
going into folder !!

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell and in the right pane double click on
(Default) and enter the explicit four characters "none" without the quotes.
Repeat at HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shell OR
