unable to change url for Home page

greetings!

my sister told me she accidentally click on a popup of some sort and
realised that her Home page url was set to the said popup's advertised site.
whenever she starts a new copy of IE, the program will be forced to go to
that particular site, causing at least 6 popups - effectively freezing IE for
a few secs and cluttering the screen.

i thought we would be able to get rid of the url in Home page easily by
changing the default but there is a problem. a malicious form of 'something'
made the options of changing default Home page impossible. the whole section
is 'faded off'

*i do not know the right technical terms to describe certain items, please
pardon i hope my 'explainations get across.

could this problrem be solved? or is there a need to reinstall IE?

okies the problem is fixed for now. one registry values was apparently
infected with something.. according to cwshredder. this spiffy program
cleared it for me.

but i still have no idea how my sis got IE infected...the account she gave
me is rather vague but i suppose she doesnt know either. one moment it just
got in and infected IE...hmm? during all the surfing i guess.

hi,

try downloading spysweeper from download.com. The
software will do a thorough check on your system. Sounds
like you have a few spyware in your system that is
causing the problem.
