Unable to change the design

I am getting the following message appear when trying to change an object. "The Microsoft Jet database engine stopped the process because you and another user are attempting to change the same data at the same time". I am the only one using the database and all the objects have me as the owner. Any ideas why this is happening

I have managed to overcome the problem by using Compact and Repair. Thanks
