Unable to change IE 6.0 sp 1 Homepage

I posted about a similar problem last night, and that
issue is resolved. Thank you so much for your help!

(The issue was regarding accessing Internet Options under
the Tools menu).

I updated a registry key, per another user's suggestion
(written below), and now I can successfully access
Internet Options under the Tools menu. HOWEVER, I CAN
NOT change the homepage (the area is greyed out).

Any ideas or advice is greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advanced. Have a good evening!

Two days ago, I installed Search and Destroy free Spyware
on my XP machine. (I used it previously on a '98 machine
with no problems).

On the XP machine, I am the administrator. During the
install of Search and Destroy, I must have clicked on
something that led to the 'no changing of homepage'
option. When I went to "Tools, Internet Options," I
received an error message, "This operation has been
cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this
computer. Please contact your system administrator."

After seeing that message, I did an uninstall of Search
and Destroy. Everything is gone, plus I updated (again)
virus software, windows updates, etc. etc. I rebooted
the machine in hopes to 'clean' itself.

The error message is still remaining, even though I no
longer have the spyware removal software installed. Any
ideas or assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advanced! Good evening to everyone!

To unlock the Homepage setting, follow these steps:
1. Quit all instances of Internet Explorer
2. Open Regedit.exe, navigate to this branch:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\
Control Panel]

3. Delete the "HomePage" DWORD value.

4. Close Registry Editor, restart IE.
