Unable to change font sizing

I realise that this may not be the correct forum to post my question in, but
I have tried seeking an answer in other groups without success. Here is my
problem :-

My font size setting in a Winmail "Create Mail" window is frozen on 12pt.
and cannot be changed to any other size.
If a different size is selected the insertion point widens, as if the change
is going to take place, but as soon as another key is pressed the size
reverts to 12pt.(Bold,Italic,Underline and Colour settings are all O.K.!)
Incoming mail from other people which contains larger sized text is also
received by me as 12pt.
I have checked all the settings in TOOLS/OPTIONS/COMPOSE and all are
correct.
This problem has only arisen recently and I am desperate for a solution.

Anyone able to help?

Is it okay if you actually choose another font? Can you then select
different sizes? This is a bit of a guess, but it just may be possible that
the default font is missing from your machine, and it is being replaced with
some system default.

(The only reason why I mentioned this was that I have a not too different
problem with Windows Server 2003. I had locked the Font folder from writes
(NTFS permissions), and SP2 had updated some fonts, which did not get
installed, but the originals were deleted. One of these fonts was Tahoma,
and everything in the whole OS turned into italics. It took me weeks to
discover that this was not some stupid change that Microsoft had made with
SP2 and that my Tahoma font was actually missing from the machine).

I have trolled through the web and finally found a solution which solved my
problem. (For my computer at least.) I am printing it below in case it will
help someone else with the same difficulty.

Open Internet Explorer as usual.
Click on the “Tools” menu from the menu bar, then select “Internet Options”.
The “Internet Options” window will then pop up, click on the “Accessibility”
button located at bottom right corner.
In the “Accessibility” window, you can choose to:
Ignore colors specified on Web pages.
Ignore font styles specified on Web pages.
Ignore font sizes specified on Web pages.

Uncheck the last option (Ignore font sizes ....) and your problem is fixed
!!!

Good find. One of those things many of us know but have forgotten. Thanks
for reporting back with the reminder.
