Unable to backup Vista 32

Hi,
I am using Vista Business 32 bit Edition upgrade from XP Pro and I get the
following error when I attempt to use the backup entire computer feature:

Windows could not find backup devices on your computer. The following
information might explain why this problem occurred:

Incorect function. (0x800700001)...

System:
Compaq EVO D310 workstation
P4 2.5 GHZ
DVD ROM
CD/RW
80 GIG IDE HDD
Partition 1 = C:\ @ 40 gigs
Partition 2 = F:\ @40 gigs

External USB backup drive = Seagate 250 Gigs
Video: NVIDIA GForce n6200 AGP

What is the fix for this bug and how do I apply it ?

Do you have a second partition on your hard drive that
you tell it to include in the backup? Or do you have a
partition on another hard drive (and not the drive you
are backing up to) that you include? If you tell it to
back up from C: only, it usually doesn't work.
