Unable to Add new Hardware

After recieving my laptop back from a major repair, (replaced motherboard)
I'm unable to add new hardware to the system. All of the proper drivers for
the devices: USB Keyboard, USB Optical Mouse, are installed and respond
properly, but do not interact with windows. (Mouse lights up but is not
recognized under Mouse or Other Pointing Devices.) When I click on Add New
Hardware, I am told:

You can only install one device at a time.
Another device installation is underway, when it is finished, then you can
try this wizard again.

Nothing is being installed to my knowledge. What's the deal? I've rebooted
and reconnected the devices several times in different ports. Can anyone
field this one?

I would suggest that the Intel chipset driver was not installed before any
of the other drivers. Assuming this is an Intel powered processor in the
unit. Intel or AMD, you have to have the motherboard and CPU chipset
drivers properly installed first. Contact the shop that repaired the unit
and ask for assistance.
