Unable to activate firewall

When I try to activate the firewall in Windows XP I get
an error message that says "Cannot enable shared access.
Error 1068: The dependency service or group filed to
start." Any suggestions on what this means, and how I
can activate the firewall?
 
i am not an authority in the matter of firewalls. but i
have ZoneAlarm installed on all of my computers, and MS's
firewall disabled. it is easy to use, and a much more
powerful program the the firewall that MS provides. best
of all it is free. i know many IT Pro's who swear by
it. go to www.downloads.com and search for ZoneAlarm.

ps. my pc was never affected by msblast because of it...
