Unable to Access Hard Drive

I am unable to access my hard drive which is set up as
slave. I keep getting the message "File is corrupt &
unreadable". I have been told that my Master File Table
needs to be repaird and that I have to re-initalize and
re-partition the drive. Doing so would delete all
information on the drive. Is there any other way to
either solve the problem, or if what I have been told is
correct, to repair my Master File Tableother than to re-
initalize and re-partition?

Use FixMBR C: at Recovery Console OR Fdisk /MBR from WIN98
