Unable to access floppy and zip drives

I can no longer access my floppy or internal Zip Drives.
Get error msg "Is not accessible Incorrect function".
Device manager says that they are functioning properly.
Troubleshooting procedure indicates nothing. Tried to
access these drives in Safe Mode....same result. Now my 2
CD drives cannot be accessed. No error msg from them just
a drive letter and no listed contents.

I have similar problem. Except windows xp sees the drives, but thinks they are empty. For example, it requests me to add a disk to my a drive even though a disk is in it. The bios does see the drives as well.
