I looking for a list of short cut keys for letters with "umlaute" for german
correspondance
The only one I remember is Alt 148 for ö

Ed,
To see a list of all symbols Word has, go to your "Insert" menu and select
"Symbols." When the window comes up, make sure you're on the "Symbols" tab,
that your font is set to "Times New Roman" (or whatever font you're using),
and that it says "Latin-1" in the subset window (if it doesn't, you'll have
to scroll through and find it). This should give you a list of the special
characters you need in both upper and lowercase. If you don't see the one you
need, scroll down, or try a different subset. Once you have found the one
you need, simply double-click it to insert it into your document, or make
note of the shortcut key (displayed underneath the list of characters).

If you have enabled an international keyboard for Word, it will be easier to
type umlauted vowels. Or you can use Word's built-in keyboard shortcuts. To
type any vowel with an umlaut, precede it with Ctrl+colon (i.e.,
Ctrl+Shift+;). For more, see
