Umax Astra 2200 scaner

Does anyone know why Windows XP Professonal uses an out
of date by five or more years driver for Umax Astra 2200
Scanner and will not let me install the current driver
version 3.55 The policy coordinator for Umax says they
are provided to Microsoft but nothing happens. I have
tried for weeks to solve this without luck.

XP only has the original drivers that UMAX supplied them back when XP
shipped. Missing features and functionality were all UMAX's decision, not
Microsoft's.

If you want to use the driver not on XP, goto the Device Manager and select
the UMAX driver (which should be listed under the Imaging Devices
selection). Right-click on the UMAX namespace and select Uninstall Driver.
After that has happened, install the UMAX TWAIN drivers as instructed by
UMAX.
