Server icon or Viewer icon?

Usually it's because the program is not running.

Or, it can be because you have UltraVNC configured for the Server tray
icon not to appear until a Viewer connects to it. That's how I set mine up.

(And it's "thanks", not "thank's")

Cheers,

There is an option in the administrative settings where you can enable
or disable the systray icon.

Running XP? I recently upgraded to XPpro (from Win98SE) and read somewhere
that this is a bug in Windows XP -- that sometimes the systray icon for
applications (that *are* running) don't appear in the system tray.

No problem here running UltraVNC on 2 pcs ( XPHome SP2) both show the server
icon. Have you set the icon to be displayed and set Taskbar to always show
icon as well?

I can't tell whether you're asking me or the OP, but anyway...

I'm not running UltraVNC... I'm just sharing that I've heard it's a common
problem with disappearing icons in the system tray with WinXP
