UCI installer and DVD decoder for AIE Hercules 8500 DV users

When I tried to install MMC 8.8 after installing the Catalyst 5.1
drivers for the AIW Radeon 8500 DV (Hercules/Guilllemont ) video card,
I got two error messages: the first saying since the UCI installer was
not installed on my system, all software will not be installed and the
second saying since the ATI DVD decoders were not installed, DVD will
not be installed.

Earlier, when I had the 7.7.0.1 version of MMC , I could install the
DVD 7.5 by entering the code on the ATI installation disk and inserting
the same in the drive. With MMC 8.8, I was asked neither for the code
nor to insert the installation disk.

When I installed the 8500 DV, there was no UCI or DVD decoder software
on the installation disk nor on the ATI web-site. Are the 8500 DV card
users entitled to use the DVD software from MMC 8.8? If not, why? If
yes, how does one get the UCI installer and the DVD decoders after
having had the 8500 DV for two years?

Subsequently, I have been able to download the DVD decoder 448 KB
package from ATI but when I tried to install it, the System rejected
the installation CD I have with an error message saying it was not a
valid CD, even though it has all the ATI registered markings and was
the one used for installing the Radeon 8500 DV card.
That confirms my suspicion that ATI does not permit outdated users the
opportunity to use the latest developments. They should at least inform
users if the users can buy the upgrade so that DVD Player in MMC 8.8
can be activated.
