UAC and FTP

I had turned UAC off the day I installed Vista. Of all the most annoying
things on the planet, Apple Macs now came second because MS had invented
UAC!!

As a result, all went back to normal and I didn't have a problem. However, I
decided to turn UAC back on (big mistake) and a few days later decided to
make some changes to my domain and needed to upload a group of files. I
normally use Bulletproof FTP to connect, set up the send, start to send and
then work on other things while that all happens. It wouldn't happen at all.
I was getting continuous connect and disconnect rolling over and over almost
2 a second. I had to abort, checked all and couldn't find a reason so
contacted my domain host who checked and nothing wrong there. I decided to
go through the "Add a Network Place" routine and initially couldn't find
where that was in Vista so tried on an XP machine. It connected properly. I
came back to Vista and did a search, found that it is now under My Computer
instead of Network Places where you would expect it to be, added a Network
place and it didn't work. So, I turned UAC off and rebooted and tried again
and wonder of wonders, it worked. I could now go via Network Places and
upload my stuff and all is OK.

So two things from all this:

1) I tried to upload, UAC off, to my site and couldn't using my FTP client.
It connects but wont do anything. Not sure why.

2) If you want FTP to work via Add a Network Place, UAC has to be off.

I have no idea how to get it to work with UAC on though. If anyone has an
idea I would appreciate it. The firewall (Vista) is set to allow FTP so you
would assume it doesn't affect it at all.

That's a bit odd.

What errors were you receiving from the server?

I upload data to my site all the time and to be honest I've never even
turned UAC off on my machine (even the 2 years that I was doing testing,
other than for the scenarios that required it.)

None. Just would connect and disconnect immediately, over and over. Couldnt
list any files or anything at all.

I can get there with IE7 but though that works, it isnt ideal. I have to
upload some files that are over 20 megs up to 250megs and unfortunately if I
get a disconnect, with IE I have to start from scratch. The ftp client will
at least start from where it left off.
